Live From Moscow: Vinyl 2LP
Hot on the heels of a sold-out 2019 Record Store Day release and 40 years after Elton John became the first major Western pop star to play the USSR, the seminal performance âLive From Moscowâ with percussionist Ray Cooper finally gets a full release on 2LP vinyl, 2CD and digital formats. First broadcast by BBC Radio 1 in 1979 and the subject of the acclaimed documentary film âTo Russia With Eltonâ, the audio has been fully remastered for this release by Bob Ludwig from the original BBC analogue tapes. A sensation from start to finish, with pared down, unique versions of Elton classics like âDanielâ, âSaturday Nightâs Alright For Fightingâ and âBennie And The Jetsâ, plus cover versions of âI Heard It Through The Grapevineâ, âGet Backâ and âBack In The USSRâ, the 1979 Russian tour has gone down in history as one of the landmark moments in rock history as well as being a personal career highlight for Elton. He says: âIt was one of the most memorable and happy tours I have been on. The last show was probably one of the best concerts Iâve ever given in my life.
